31 years of MT gravel cart evolution.
To the right of the picture: Blue MT10 GC unit manufactured in1984. (Still used regularly & kept as a piece of company history).
To the left of picture: Green MT14GC unit manufactured in 2015.
Over the past 30 years or so, it can be seen from the picture how the original MT gravel cart has evolved/improved:
1) Increased capacity up from 10 to 14 tonnes.
2) Larger floatation tyres.
3) Electro hydraulics replacing manual spool hydraulics. (At additional cost).
4) The addition of a hopper vibrator system. (At additional cost).
5) Longer, stronger section drawbar to accommodate modern tractors equipped with larger rear tyre equipment. Was 1250mm, now 1850mm.
6) Longer conveyor, with a deeper, stronger chassis (increased from 50mm x 50mm x 4mm to 50mm x 100mm x 4mm) to keep the machines mass further away from the trench wall.
7) Safer rear ladder access to the hopper.
8) Rear drawbar for towing a pair of carts between jobs.
9) Originally second hand truck axles were used, nowadays, bespoke, new A.D.R. fully braked beam axles are used.
10) Stronger hopper with material thickness increased from 3mm to 4mm & a double folded top return.
